The Mystery Gift function is almost as old as Pokemon itself, having been around since the release of the Gen 2 games back in the late nineties. As a result, it's not too surprising to see Mystery Gifts make a return in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, with players once again able to download special items and Event Pokemon straight to their Switches with the help of an internet connection.
