About John DiCarlo

John is a writer with a long-standing love for games. He's not sure when exactly he was introduced to the medium, but his time playing Halo: Combat Evolved as a young boy was certainly an integral period. Since then, he's followed the industry relentlessly and now enjoys covering gaming news for GameRant, in addition to occasionally writing news stories and features for the Movie/TV team. His writing background lies within the copywriting and technical writing fields, so he's still learning the ropes of newswriting, but is having a blast doing so.

Industry Focus

I mostly cover gaming news for GameRant, writing about a wide range of topics within the industry. Occasionally, I also write features or news stories for the Movie/TV team. I enjoy virtually all forms of newswriting, and both of these mediums are favorites of mine.

Favorite Console

My favorite console is the Xbox 360. However, it's been a while since that was a passable piece of technology, so now you'll catch me using my Xbox Series X to play my favorite games.

Favorite Games

My all-time favorite games are Halo, Call of Duty, and Counter Strike. Obviously there's a theme here; I love the FPS genre.
