Just like in many other modern role-playing games, Starfield allows players to create their own characters. They'll be given a chance to do so during the game's tutorial section on Vectera, at which point, they'll not only have to settle on an appearance, but also their character's Traits and Background, the latter of which determines the skills that they start the game with.
